Dr Chan made us feel relaxed as soon as we entered the consulting room with a relative who was the patient. The condition of our relative was very clearly explained to us in easy terms, and the dementia which he was suffering from was detailed to us. I do not believe that anybody could have done a better job. The treatment which the patient had to follow was also explained with the assurance that the team was only a phone call away. Due to the severity of the illness and resulting stress on the family we found much comfort and good advice from Dr Chan with the knowledge that there would be regular visits by a team member. A follow up consoltation was arranged. We would like to thank Dr Chan for his professionalism and his understanding nature.

Dr Chan, as usual, greeted me with a welcoming handshake and addressed me by my Christian name. He explained that he had two trainee doctors with him and asked me if I minded their sitting in on the meeting I was going to have with him. He went carefully through all the problems that I had mentioned to him on my previous visit (two months previously) and asked whether there was any improvement (or not) with these problems and how I was dealing with them. We discussed how the medication he had prescribed for me was helping me. We also discussed the side effects that this medication was having. Dr Chan has taken a real interest in me and the problems that I am having in coping with all the cancer that my close relatives are suffering with. He asks questions about my whole life and listens carefully to my answers. He is, without doubt, the best psychiatrist that has ever cared for me and I cannot praise him enough. He has really helped me overcome my thoughts of suicide and my severe depression and has given me hope for the future.
